Traditional medicine works on an after-the-fact basis, treating the patient with drugs or surgery after a problem is detected. It concentrates primarily on the physical aspect of the issue.

Holistic medicine considers the ENTIRE body of the patient, body, mind, spirit, and emotions, as it strives for a whole-body all-encompassing cure for whatever ails the patient. Now, a holistic medicine practitioner may still utilize conventional medical treatments, but will not discount the other aspects of the patient's situation to make certain that all factors that may be causing the problem are addressed.
